Best Gables Memory
This is a tough one to answer as there are so, so many. I believe that I am
impressed the most by the enthusiasm our whole class showed for getting out
in the world and doing the best we could to make it a better, safer place.
There have clearly been some successes in this area.
I have to mention our graduation ceremony, when many of us sang Lewis Spratlan's
original song, "My Reindeer Flies Sideways," to the tune of "Pomp
and Circumstance." Around us, others sheltered hidden flasks under their
gowns! Not as outrageous as some of today's graduations, but pretty close.
What I’m Doing Now
I continue to practice medicine more than full-time (diagnostic radiology)
in Orlando, Altamonte Springs and Sanford, Florida. I am medical director
of these three centers. Retirement sounds more appealing every day, as this
old body is yearning for some free time. I have two daughters, Katie and Julie.
Katie and Stan live in Seattle, while Julie and Joe live in Washington, DC.
I have five grandchildren who seem to be growing by leaps and bounds. Were
we ever as young and as cute and as worldly as this generation of children?
My ex-wife Nancy Shea Bagby, lives near me in Winter Park and is doing great
as an incredible local residential realtor. She and I remain great friends.
My partner is David Parslow, a small business owner in Orlando. From upstate
New York, he has adapted readily to the central Florida outdoor lifestyle.
Though I no longer run marathons, I still try to exercise three times a week.
My principal outside activities now revolve around the Board of Trustees of
Emory University and the BOT of the First Professionals Insurance Company
(the largest insurer of physicians for professional liability coverage in
the state of Florida).
Special Events In My Life
I served as President of the Orange County Medical Society in l986 and of
the Florida Medical Association in 1996. past president of the Florida Radiological
Society in 1997. I currently serve as chair of the Advisory Board of Directors
of the First Professionals Insurance Company (FPIC).
