Best Gables Memory
Pep rallies, football games, Mrs. Struthers’ English class, chorus,
band/chorus
trip to Washington, D. C. and New York, Mr. Menacofs’ drivers ed.,(remember
our country driving was down Old Cutler to Mattheson Hammock?), “Hey”
to everyone in the halls, pool parties, slumber parties, soap in the Granada
fountain, friends who ended up being life-long friends.
What I’m doing now
Presently teaching music to 650 children in kindergarten through 6th grade
at
Mims Elementary School in Mims, FL.
Special Events in my life
I graduated from Maryville College in 1962 with a B.A. in Music Education.
I taught in Dade County a year and then for 3 more years in Maryland and Minnesota.
I married in 1964 and raised 3 great kids. My favorite job all those years
was
teaching children’s choirs at church(es). I went back to full time teaching
in 1986 –
first in Virginia and, after becoming single, in Miami. July 29, 2000, I moved
north to be close to my granddaughter (and daughter) who live in Orlando.
Besides teaching full time in Mims I sing with the Bach Festival Chorus
in Winter Park and of course, visit my granddaughter as much as I can.
